McGinnis Meadows Cattle & Guest Ranch

McGinnis Meadows Cattle & Guest Ranch fly fishing vacation ranch in Libby Montana

Come RIDE with us!
McGinnis Meadows Cattle & Guest Ranch is an authentic working cattle ranch located in the northwest corner of Montana.
Our main emphasis is our horse and cattle program. You'll experience horses that are comfortable working cattle, or just leisurely heading out and exploring country.

Beginner riders to experienced leave here with more knowledge about horses, horsemanship, and cattle, than they've experienced anywhere else.
With approximately 20 guests per week, we can better know you, work with you individually, and tailor each day to you. It's exciting for us to see how much you progress in the week.

McGinnis Meadows Ranch is made up of people who love this way of life. You will find "more" here, from the care put into our lodging and meals, to the care of our horses, fine custom tack, and excellent facilities. "More" in the sincerity of our staff as well as the owners, Shayne & Jo-Anne Jackson, and "more" in what you find in yourself, and what you can do.

You will experience a well-rounded horseback riding program centered on what these horses can do with cattle, and will leave here a better rider wanting "more."
Some tell us this is heaven, "No, it's just paradise."

Lodging: Quality and comfort is very important to us. Our cozy facilities are nestled amidst larch and aspen trees, rolling meadows, and timbered mountains. Decorated in a Western motif, you'll see Jo-Anne's care for detail in every room. The main lodge is very intimate and welcomes you to make yourself at home, with its family style dining room, the kitchen of every cook's dream, Jo-Anne's warm artwork, overstuffed couches and river rock fire place in the living room. The inviting reading loft has over 500 Western novels, and other best sellers. Many buffet dinners are served under the aspens on our wide-open deck that looks out over the meadows.

The welcome feeling carries through to each of the rooms in the lodge, and the Amish handcrafted log cabins. Each has a queen-sized bed with denim down comforters and Pendleton wool blankets, fluffy robes, complimentary slippers, complimentary water bottles for your rides, and plush towels for bath and hot tub use. Lodge rooms have individual private baths and are close to the coffee pot and fresh cookies. Cabins have propane fireplaces, sitting area, private bath, mini-refrigerator, coffee pot, and private deck. Cabins sleep up to four and are double occupancy only.

After a full day of riding, dawn your terry robe, and slippers and head to the hot tub!

A game of pool, ping-pong, or settling in to one of the overstuffed couches to enjoy an old western movie in our game room is always an after dinner treat.
A volleyball net and horseshoe pit is also available.

Many evenings are spent talking of the day's adventures, or quietly soaking it all in.
Kids' Program: We do not have a children's program. We ask that children have the "want to" to ride, and are strong enough to handle their own horse as they will ride right along with us. Usually 10 years old and up.
Food/Dining: Dining is family style. The cheeriest cooks in the West will greet you every morning and evening. Every meal is prepared with pride, and the refrigerator is always open to you. If you're hungry around here, "It's your own fault!" You'll enjoy fresh breads, salads, fruits, and vegetables. Mouth-watering entrees include garlic bacon wrapped rib roast, Flambéed brandied mushroom chicken, and the most tender barbecued ribs you'll ever find! McGinnis Meadow's brandied pecan pie will send you over the edge!

While catching up the horses in the morning, you'll be drawn to the kitchen by the scent of plate-sized pancakes splashed with Montana's famous huckleberries handpicked from our secret huckleberry patch (only the bears know about it). We pack our lunches for a new lunch spot every day.
